Here are the updated basketball transfer rankings as May begins – Texas A&M

Texas A&M’s 2023-2024 basketball season was highly memorable, to say the least. Head coach Buzz Williams led the Aggies to a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament amid a load of in-season drama due to shooting struggles, which were mended with a late-season run.
This offseason, Williams has a clear path in front of him from a roster-building perspective, starting with finding a replacement for outgoing veteran guard Tyrece Radford to make returning star leading scorer Wade Taylor IV and rising senior guard Manny Obaseki’s jobs easier next season. However, adding outside shooting after finishing the year below 30% from beyond the arc was an absolute must.
So far, Williams has added three transfers, starting with former Nebraska guard CJ Welcher who shot 40% from 3-point range last season, former Minnesota forward Pharrel Payne who averaged 10 points and six rebounds with the Gophers last year, and finally, former SMU guard Zhuric Phelps, who brings a ton of experience and driving ability in the paint.
With the transfer portal now closed, several players are still on the Aggies’ radar, so stay tuned for any future updates. Taking a look at the newest transfer portal class rankings, where does Texas A&M currently rank among the other programs looking to compete next season? Here are 247Sports’ updated 2024 top 30 transfer portal rankings as of May 3.
