Schedule set for MIAC Men’s Basketball Playoffs – MIAC

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The 2023-24 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) men’s basketball regular season came to a close on Saturday afternoon, officially setting the tournament field for next week’s MIAC Men’s Basketball Playoffs.
Saint John’s (18-2) locked up the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament after earning the program’s 11th regular-season MIAC title and the team’s fourth in the last six seasons. The Johnnies now have a bye through the first round of play and will host a semifinal game at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22.
Carleton (14-6) will be the No. 2 seed after defeating Saint Mary’s in the regular season finale. The defending MIAC playoff champion Knights secured the 25th playoff berth in program history and will face the highest remaining seed in the semifinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22.
No. 3 Gustavus (14-6) will host No. 6 seed Bethel (10-10) in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, February 20. The playoffs started early for the Royals, as they defeated St. Olaf on Saturday in a win-and-in contest, while Gustavus topped fellow playoff qualifier Hamline in its regular season finale. The Royals took both games against the Gusties in regular season play. The quarterfinal contest is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff on Tuesday.
No. 4 Hamline (13-7) will host No. 5 Concordia (12-8) in the quarterfinals. The Pipers and Cobbers split their regular season series, with each team stealing a win on the other’s home court. Tip-off for Tuesday’s quarterfinal is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in St. Paul.
Tuesday’s two quarterfinal winners will advance to Thursday’s semifinals, where No. 1 Saint John’s and No. 2 Carleton will host. The bracket will re-seed following the first round, matching up the lowest remaining seed against the top-seeded Johnnies, while the Knights will welcome the higher seed to Northfield. Both semifinal contests are tentatively scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The semifinal winners will meet on Saturday, February 24, in the 2024 MIAC Men’s Basketball Playoff championship game. The game is tentatively scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The MIAC Playoff champion will receive the postseason championship plaque and the Conference’s automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament.
