Seeding Saturday: Basketball state playoff brackets finalized by NCHSAA; First round set for Tuesday – HighSchoolOT

First round matchups are now set for the N.C. High School Athletic Association boys & girls basketball state playoffs.
At approximately 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, the NCHSAA released the final brackets for the basketball state playoffs. First round matchups are set for Tuesday with games at the higher seed.

Final brackets were released following a process that took a good portion of the day on Saturday. First, the NCHSAA released final RPI rankings, then preliminary brackets. The preliminary brackets gave schools an opportunity to review for any potential errors.
After checking reports from schools and making any needed corrections, the NCHSAA declared the brackets final. The NCHSAA issued updates to the 2A girls basketball bracket shortly after 3 p.m.
The first and second rounds will be played on Feb. 27 and Mar. 1 respectively. Winners will advance to the third round on Mar. 5, then the fourth round on Mar. 8.

Each of the first round rounds will be played at the higher seed.
The regional championships and state championships will be played differently this year. All regional championships will be played at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem on Mar. 11-14. State championships will be played at the coliseum on Mar. 15 and Mar. 16.
This year marks the first time the NCHSAA has held the regional championships and state championships at a single location, creating a “Final Four” style atmosphere.

• Feb. 27 — First Round @ higher seed
• Mar. 1 — Second Round @ higher seed
• Mar. 5 — Third Round @ higher seed
• Mar. 8 — Fourth Round @ higher seed
• Mar. 11-14 — Regional Championships @ Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Winston-Salem
• Mar. 15-16 — State Championships @ Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Winston-Salem

Regional Championship & State Championship Schedule

The NCHSAA will release assignments for days and times for each classification after the second round of the playoffs, but the time slots have already been determined.

Regional Championships (Monday-Thursday): Games will be played at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. each day
State Championships (Friday): Games will be played at 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.
State Championships (Saturday): Games will be played at 12 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.
