Washington County basketball teams are set for MPSSAA playoffs – Herald-Mail Media

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association released its playoff brackets Tuesday for boys and girls basketball.
Ten Washington County teams are set to play in region quarterfinals on Friday or Saturday, while four county teams earned byes to next week’s semifinals.
Class 1A West Region II: Smithsburg is seeded No. 1, Clear Spring is No. 2 and both received first-round byes to the semifinals on Feb. 28.
On Saturday, No. 4 Boonsboro will host No. 5 Hancock at 2 p.m., with the winner traveling to play Smithsburg.
Clear Spring will host the winner between No. 3 Brunswick and No. 6 Catoctin.
Class 2A West Region II: No. 3 Williamsport will host No. 6 Hammond on Saturday at noon, with No. 2 Middletown awaiting the winner in the semifinals.
Walkersville is the No. 1 seed.
Class 3A West Region I: No. 5 North Hagerstown will travel to play No. 4 Linganore on Friday at 6 p.m., with the winner advancing to face No. 1 Frederick on Feb. 28.
No. 6 South Hagerstown will play at No. 3 Thomas Johnson on Friday at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will meet either No. 2 Oakdale or No. 7 Tuscarora.
Class 1A West Region II: Boonsboro earned a first-round bye as the No. 2 seed and, on Monday, will host the winner between No. 3 Smithsburg and No. 6 Hancock.
No. 5 Clear Spring will travel to play No. 4 Brunswick on Friday at 7 p.m., with the winner advancing to face No. 1 Catoctin on Monday.
Class 2A West Region II: Williamsport, the defending region champion, is seeded No. 1. After a first-round bye, the Wildcats will host either No. 4 Poolesville or No. 5 Walkersville on Monday.
Class 3A West Region I: On Friday, No. 3 North Hagerstown will host No. 6 Thomas Johnson at 6 p.m., while No. 7 South Hagerstown will travel to play No. 2 Oakdale at 7 p.m.
The winners of those two games will meet in Monday’s semifinals.
Linganore is seeded No. 1.
