Victor Wembanyama joins Dwight Howard as the the only teenagers in NBA history to post a 20-point, 20-rebound game.
Spurs rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama made NBA history Friday night with his first career 20-point, 20-rebound performance in San Antonio’s 128-112 loss to the Chicago Bulls.
With 21 points and 20 rebounds, Wembanyama became the youngest player in NBA history to post a 20-20 game. At 19 years and 38 days old, he broke the mark previous held by Dwight Howard by four days.
Howard also had 21 points and 20 rebounds on Nov. 15, 2005 as a rookie with the Orlando Magic.
Wembanyama and Howard are the only teenagers to accomplish the feat.
Wembanyama, who also blocked four shots, had 10 points and 11 rebounds in the first half for his 10th double-double of the season and first in a first half.
The last rookie with a 20/20 game that included four blocks was Shaquille O’Neal on Nov. 12, 1992.
