NBA Trade Rumors: If the Chicago Bulls explore a retooling of the roster, DeMar DeRozan could find himself on the in-season trade block.
It’s been far from a banner start for the Chicago Bulls. After an offseason in which they completely doubled down on this current build, which has not proven to be good enough to be a contender in the Eastern Conference, the Bulls needed to get off to a good start. It’s only been two games, but there isn’t a lot for the Bulls to feel good about heading into the first weekend of the regular season.
If the Bulls continue on this trend, the whispers pushing for the team to blow up the roster, or at least retool it, are only going to grow louder. And if the Bulls were ready to explore that route, it would almost certainly start with placing DeMar DeRozan on the trade block. An in-season DeRozan trade, who is in the final year of his contract and could already be on his way out, could be the next big difference-making move that happens at the NBA Trade Deadline.
Which teams could be potential suitors? We explore.
If DeMar DeRozan does find his way to the trade block, there’s no question in my mind that the Miami Heat would at least inquire. To a certain extent, DeRozan would make sense from a basketball perspective. He would effectively take some of the offensive burden off of Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and Bam Adebayo, and would add another offensive element that the Heat thought they were going to get in Bradley Beal or Damian Lillard before those deals fell through.
The Heat would make as much sense for DeRozan as DeRozan would make for the Heat. This could emerge as a huge NBA Trade Deadline win-win move for all sides involved.
