As we’ve learned during the first two weeks of this NCAA basketball season, anything can happen and you should expect the unexpected. We spent months anticipating this season, making predictions, and lobbing expectations on the hundreds of college basketball teams, and many of those expectations have fallen flat or been surpassed already.
In a season that will no doubt be full of memorable moments, matchups, and unforgettable performances, the opening weeks of the season have delivered to an extent. A few major upsets have transpired and we’ve seen a few players really shining in new opportunities on the court. From the power conferences to the lowest of mid-major leagues there have been notable moments all over the place.
A lot can happen in two weeks. What happens in November isn’t the end of the world in most cases, no matter how bad a team can look or if they suffer that debilitating upset. However, we’ll still be considering these first few weeks in our most recent Top 25 rankings. Some of these teams have really stood out while others have struggled and hurt their standing a bit early in the season.
With only twenty-five teams in the rankings, several notable teams were left off this week. Among the most notable teams just outside are Virginia, BYU, Iowa State, TCU, Oregon, and Pittsburgh who remain undefeated. Perhaps one of these teams could join this list in the weeks ahead. In fact, with the holiday tournaments kicked into full gear this upcoming week, these rankings may look even wilder. For now, let’s see where these teams stand.
