Preseason postgame wrap: Hawks 110, Pelicans 105
Perhaps the biggest priority of NBA preseason for teams and players is to get out of games healthy. From that standpoint, Saturday’s first half was a major downer for New Orleans, which lost a pair of key contributors to injury. Neither Herb Jones (neck) nor Naji Marshall (right knee) returned to action following their ailments, though Jones was initially ruled questionable.

The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that forward Naji Marshall, who hyperextended his right knee during the second quarter of yesterday’s preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks, has been diagnosed with a bone bruise following an MRI taken this morning.

Off the Court 2023-24: Pelicans forward E.J. Liddell
E.J. Liddell has played in a pair of summer leagues and one preseason for New Orleans and now awaits his official NBA debut during the 2023-24 regular season. Drafted in the second round (No. 41 overall) by the Pelicans in 2022, the Ohio State product sustained an ACL tear in a Las Vegas summer game the month after he was chosen, but returned to action this summer. The Belleville, Ill., native joined Pelicans.com to discuss his background and some of his interests outside of basketball.
