Boys basketball playoffs: Damien, St. Francis, Blair lead the way into … – The Pasadena Star-News

The CIF Southern Section boys basketball playoff pairings were released Sunday.
The playoffs begin with wild-card games Tuesday and there are several notable first-round games Wednesday.
Damien, which won the CIF State Division 1 title last year and finished second in the Baseline League this season, will host Long Beach St. Anthony in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs.
St. Francis is also in the D1 bracket after it finished fourth in the tough Mission League. St. Francis will be at Oak Park in the first round, with the winner facing top-seeded Etiwanda in the second round.
Also in Division 1, St. Paul will be at Village Christian and Los Altos at Colony in the first round Wednesday.
In Division 2A, Gateway League co-champion La Mirada was seeded third and Hacienda League co-champion Diamond Bar was seeded fourth.
La Mirada will open at home against Bishop Amat, and Diamond Bar will be at home against El Dorado.
Other notable Division 2AA  games in the first round include Palm Desert at Glendora, AGBU/CP at Pasadena and Arcadia at Shalhevet. Walnut, which tied for the Hacienda League title, is home against Silverado.
La Serna was awarded the third seed in Division 3AA and will host Rio Mesa in the first round.
Maranatha, the Olympic League champion, wasn’t seeded in 3AA, but figures to be one of the favorites. It will host San Marino in the first round.
La Habra is the second seed in Division 3A and will host Inglewood in the first round.
Prep League champion Flintridge Prep is the second seed in Division 4AA. It will host the winner of Tuesday’s wild-card game between Villanova Prep and Trinity Classical Academy.
Blair is the top seed in Division 5A and a strong favorite to bring home a title. Blair will host the winner of Tuesday’s wild-card game between Channel Islands and Duarte in the first round.
