AUSTIN, Texas — Senior Taylor Jones scored a game-high 22 points and the Longhorns outscored Midwestern State 41-5 in the second quarter as Texas came away with a 124-52 victory on Thursday at Moody Center. 

Texas used a 21-0 run in the second quarter to take a 67-18 lead at halftime. The Horns held Midwestern State scoreless for 5:22 of game time in the second quarter. 

Khadija Faye recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda notched 19 points and six rebounds. Gisella Maul contributed 13 points and six assists and Shaylee Gonzales and Shay Holle scored 11 points each. Rori Harmon scored seven points and added six assists and four steals and Madison Booker recorded eight points, seven assists and five rebounds. Amina Muhammad scored eight points and Tionna Herron added six points. 

Texas shot 53-of-72 (73.6 percent) from the field and recorded 33 assists. The Texas defense tallied 15 steals and 10 blocked shots. The Longhorns outrebounded Midwestern State 52-22 with 16 offensive rebounds. 

Up next the Longhorns will open the 2023-24 season at Moody Center on Wednesday, Nov. 8 against Southern. Tip time is set for 7:00 p.m. CT.
