According to the predictions of EuroLeague general managers, Real Madrid is expected to clinch the championship in the 2023-24 season, with Edy Tavares emerging as the frontrunner to get the regular season MVP award.
For the third consecutive year, BasketNews proudly presents the EuroLeague General Managers Survey.

Willy Hernangomez

Team: FC Barcelona
Position: C
Age: 29
Height: 209 cm
Weight: 113 kg
Birth place: Madrid, Spain

The majority of the EuroLeague GMs shared their thoughts on the offseason, the league’s future outlook, and their predictions for the 2023-24 season.
In the second segment of our survey, we’ll shift our attention to predictions, including the NBA player making the most impactful transition to the EuroLeague, MVP, EuroLeague title, and All-EuroLeague Team predictions.
In the upcoming edition of the BasketNews GM survey, we’ll delve into the critical decisions shaping the EuroLeague future.
The EuroLeague is gearing up for a season with an inflow of NBA talent making their way overseas to Europe.
According to insights from EuroLeague GMs, FC Barcelona is expected to significantly benefit from adding these NBA newcomers.
A notable 23% of the GMs identified both Willy Hernangomez and Jabari Parker as the NBA players set to have the most success in the EuroLeague this season.
Similarly, the same percentage of respondents singled out PJ Dozier, the guard from Partizan Belgrade, who is set to step into Dante Exum’s role.
Other NBA players who garnered votes included Juancho Hernangomez, who received multiple mentions, as well as Serge Ibaka and Kemba Walker.
According to the insights from EuroLeague GMs, it would be quite surprising if Real Madrid failed to make it to the Final Four this season. An overwhelming 92.3% of the GMs included Real Madrid in their Final Four predictions.
Following closely, Olympiacos Piraeus and AS Monaco tied with 53.8% of GMs, mentioning them as potential Final Four teams.
Emporio Armani Milan also received significant recognition, with 46.2% of GMs including them in their Final Four projections.
While not in the Top 4, Maccabi came in next, with 38.5% of GMs considering them as strong contenders.
Additionally, Barcelona, Fenerbahce (both 30.8%), Partizan, and Panathinaikos (both 23.1%) received multiple votes, indicating that they, too, are in the mix for the projected Final Four spots.
Real Madrid emerged as a prominent favorite to win the EuroLeague, with 38.5% of GMs foreseeing them clinching the title.
Not far behind, Olympiacos garnered significant support, with 30.8% of GMs believing they have a strong chance of winning the championship.
AS Monaco also found favor among GMs, receiving multiple votes, suggesting they are a team to watch closely in the title race.
Additionally, both Partizan and Panathinaikos received honorable mentions as potential contenders.
In the two previous GM Surveys, Barcelona had consistently been the top choice as the team with the best chance of winning the title. However, despite these high expectations, Barcelona faced disappointment, falling short in the semifinals in consecutive seasons.
Interestingly, in this year’s survey, none of the GMs opted to put their votes in favor of Barcelona.
According to the EuroLeague GMs’ predictions, the All-EuroLeague Team for the 2023-24 season is expected to feature Facundo Campazzo, Kevin Punter, Will Clyburn, Nikola Mirotic, and Edy Tavares.
Tavares stands out as the clear frontrunner to secure a spot on the All-EuroLeague Team, as his name appeared in a remarkable 84.6% of the GMs’ projected lineups.
Among the notable names who didn’t make the top 5 but still received considerable recognition were Mike James, Juancho Hernangomez, Shavon Shields, Nigel Hayes-Davis, and Carsen Edwards, all of whom received multiple votes.
Mirotic holds a unique recognition as the only EuroLeague player to have earned a place in the GMs’ All-EuroLeague Team projection for the third consecutive season.
Edy Tavares is currently the frontrunner in the projection for the season MVP award. However, the competition is expected to be much tighter compared to the previous two seasons.
In both of the last two seasons, Vasilije Micic had been the overwhelming favorite to win the MVP, with over 50% of GMs casting their votes in his favor. This time around, the landscape is different, with less than one-third of general managers picking Tavares as the top contender.
Facundo Campazzo and Mike James are the only other players to receive multiple votes in the MVP race, indicating their strong candidacy.
Additionally, players like Kevin Punter, Nikola Milutinov, Nikola Mirotic, Wade Baldwin, and Juancho Hernangomez received honorable mentions, showcasing the depth of talent and competition in the MVP race for the upcoming season.
