When police got there, the fight was over and most of the spectators involved had left the scene.
Police said one man, 60-year-old Russell Giroux of Alburgh, who was involved in the fight, needed medical attention.
Detectives have learned that Mr. Giroux had left the school and was driving in the direction of his home when he stopped his car and called first responders.
Giroux was taken to Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. He later died at the hospital. Police have not revealed how Giroux was injured in the incident.
The Grand Isle Supervisory Union released a statement about the incident on Wednesday afternoon.
Giroux’s body was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
