Indiana basketball’s Mackenzie Mgbako arrested on 2 misdemeanor charges: Report – The Athletic

Indiana basketball forward Mackenzie Mgbako was arrested on two misdemeanor charges Sunday in Bloomington, Ind., according to a report from the IndyStar.
Mgbako, 18, was arrested by Bloomington police and booked on Class A misdemeanor charges of criminal trespassing and resisting law enforcement at 3:16 a.m. ET on Sunday, an officer at the Monroe County jail told the IndyStar. Mgbako posted bond at 5:25 a.m. ET and has been released, per the report.

“IU Athletics is aware of the situation,” an Indiana athletic department spokesperson said in a statement. “We will continue to gather facts, cooperate with and monitor the legal process, and take further action as the evolving situation warrants.”
Mgbako, a freshman from Gladstone, N.J., was a five-star recruit ranked in the top 10 in the 2023 class. He previously committed to Duke but de-committed in April, picking Indiana over Kansas in May. Mgbako — a 2023 McDonald’s All-American — was the No. 8 overall player and the No. 2 power forward in the 2023 class, per the 247Sports Composite.
Indiana opens its season against Florida Gulf Coast on Nov. 7.
