Max is set to launch a live sports tier in early October called “Bleacher Report Sports Add-On.” The tier, which will include NBA games, will be available for no added cost for Max subscribers through February.
All games on WBD Sports’ linear channels, including TNT, will be featured on Max. The tier will also include studio shows such as Inside the NBA.
Games will not be exclusive to one service, but will exist on both linear TV and streaming.
“We fundamentally think that these are different consumers. There’s the pay-TV consumer who has a whole suite of channels on cable. Then there are people who are either broadband-only or are dropping cable and want to have a different option but don’t have the ability to watch our sports,” said Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Chair & CEO Luis Silberwasser.
The NBA will soon begin negotiating a new deal for their media rights.
