ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Rio Grande Rivalry between New Mexico and New Mexico State will resume in 2023-24 with the scheduling of a home-and-home series in men’s basketball and one game in women’s basketball.
New Mexico and New Mexico State will play twice in men’s basketball this upcoming season with a matchup at The Pit in Albuquerque on Dec. 2 and a game at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces on Dec. 15. The Lobos and Aggies will play in women’s basketball on Dec. 2 at The Pit.
“The New Mexico-New Mexico State rivalry means so much to our state and we are excited to have these games scheduled for the upcoming basketball season,” said UNM Vice President/Director of Athletics Eddie Nuñez. “The pride and passion of Lobo fans and Aggie fans make for an incredible atmosphere every time the teams play and it is important to continue that tradition. We are grateful to our colleagues at NMSU for working with us to ensure the safety and well-being of all our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans.”
Game times for the contests will be announced at a later date, contingent upon television partners. The Lobos’ complete men’s and women’s non-conference schedules will also be announced at a later date.
