CJ Cox, a 6-2 guard from Milton Academy in Massachusetts, has announced his commitment to Purdue basketball.
“I am very excited to announce my commitment to Purdue University!” he said on social media. “Thank you to Coach Painter, Coach Brantley and the entire coaching staff for this amazing opportunity. I also wanna thank my parents, sister and rest of my family for always being there for me.”
The 6-2 combo guard doesn’t have a ranking in the 247Sports recruiting service.
Here is an assessment of Cox from recruiting reporter Adam Finkelstein:
“Cox is loaded with winning intangibles. He’s tough, smart, and gets rave reviews for his character and leadership ability. He’s a very advanced defensive player, who has been very well-coached and takes pride in shutting down the opposing team’s best guard. Offensively, he’s made real strides within the last year and yet is not someone who needs to be a focal point to impact the game. He’s evolved into a true combo-guard, equally capable of playing on and off the ball. He’s also extended his shooting range. His mid-range pull-up has been the most reliable part of his individual offense, but he’s now shooting it more fluidly and confidently behind the arc.”
His other offers included Miami (Ohio), Massachusetts, American and Dartmouth.
Other Purdue Class of 2024 commitments include former Brownsburg wing Kanon Catchings (currently with Overtime Elite), center Raleigh Burgess of Cincinnati and shooting guard Jack Benter of Brownstown Central.
