According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Portland Trail Blazers are trading Jrue Holiday to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Robert Williams, Malcolm Brogdon and multiple picks.
Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to Jrue Holiday landing in Boston.

Absolutely the right move for Boston. They will miss Robert Williams — and they really need another body in that frontcourt now— but they needed Holiday more. Regain the wing defender they lost in the Smart trade—one that’s going to be motivated to play Milwaukee.

Wowowowow. That is a HAUL for Portland.
Celtics need to add another big somehow. But Holiday is a huge addition for them. https://t.co/sHQxMetQWJ

A massive swing for the Celtics, who have now added both Kristaps Porzingis and Holiday this offseason in the hopes of finally breaking through & winning a title after years of knocking on the door.
Celtics and Bucks already have lots of history. This adds a whole other layer. https://t.co/NufdIKTeRE

Celtics projected starting five:

Jaylen Brown
Jayson Tatum
Kristaps Porzingis
MADNESS. 🤯🤯🤯 pic.twitter.com/FDDEBoiYQA

Holiday getting this kind of return for POR should end Heat fans thinking the Blazers only took the Bucks’ deal out of spite.
— Trevor Lane (@Trevor_Lane) October 1, 2023

So, not to put too fine a point on it, but damn, the Celtics countered the Bucks getting Dame in a big way. Holiday/White/Brown/Tatum/Porziņģis? Man, that's a stacked starting lineup.
— David Aldridge (@davidaldridgedc) October 1, 2023

Holiday gonna hound Dame on defense.. that man is a DAWG. Perfect pick up for the Celtics to counter what Milwaukee did trading for Lillard.
— Brandon Awadis (@brawadis) October 1, 2023

Celtics giving up the 2 firsts plus Rob Williams here for Holiday is quite the all-in push. If ownership is willing to spend to retain Jrue Holiday, it could be a home run move as long as front office can find sufficient help for frontcourt.
— Brian Robb (@BrianTRobb) October 1, 2023

The Bucks became the East favorites over the Celtics by acquiring Dame. But Boston takes back that lead with this Jrue Holiday acquisition.

I actually think the Blazers made out very well in both the Lillard and Holiday trades..
— Andrew Brandt (@AndrewBrandt) October 1, 2023

The Celtics received the Warriors 1st round pick in the Marcus Smart trade.
So essentially, the Celtics traded Marcus Smart, Robert Williams & Malcolm Brogdon for Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis and Derek White is still here.

There was a LOT of "Ha, let's see them get a good return on Jrue Holiday" from people peddling a guy who was absent when their team made a Finals run.

Updated Celtics depth chart:
PG – Holiday, Pritchard
SG – Brown, White, Mykhailiuk
SF – Tatum, Hauser, Walsh
PF – Horford, Brissett
C – Porzingis, Kornet

Jrue Holiday 75 TS% against Bucks in ECF 🔜

Boston Celtics starting lineup:
Jrue Holiday
Jaylen Brown
Jayson Tatum
Kristaps Porzingis
Al Horford
Best team in the east.
— Joel Moran (@joelvmoran) October 1, 2023

Rob Williams plays 20 minutes per game and is like a top 5 most injury prone player in the league that is not getting fleeced for Jrue Holiday man
— RB (@RyB_311) October 1, 2023

PG: Derrick White
SG: Jrue Holiday
SF: Jaylen Brown
PF: Jayson Tatum
C: Kristaps Porzingis
That’s as good of a closing 5 as you can get 🔥🔥🔥
— Matt (@sixringsofsteeI) October 1, 2023

Knowing the Lakers couldn’t get Jrue, my goals for a Holiday trade were, in this order:
✅ Get out of the ridiculously loaded West
❌Not the Celtics
Seeing Boston pay this much makes me feel a little better about that second part. Still, hopefully it doesn’t work out for them.
— Trevor Lane (@Trevor_Lane) October 1, 2023

Bucks: Damian Lillard
Celtics: Jrue Holiday
Heat: pic.twitter.com/4KNs369FAS
— Underdog NBA (@Underdog__NBA) October 1, 2023

Celtics just became the NBA title favorites with the addition of Jrue Holiday.
Malcolm Brogdon didn’t want to be in Boston, and Robert Williams was unreliable.
Holiday is 33 and is still one of the better all-around point guards in the league.
