Men's Basketball to host St. Edward's University in exhibition game … – TexasSports.com

The Longhorns celebrate the city of Austin when they host the Hilltoppers in Moody Center.
AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Men’s Basketball team will host St. Edward’s University in an exhibition game on Monday, Oct. 30. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Central at Moody Center, and admission for the contest is free. This exhibition game will not be part of UT’s season-ticket package for the upcoming year.

Texas head coach Rodney Terry is a 1990 graduate of St. Edward’s with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a minor in physical education. During his collegiate career, Terry was a three-year starter at point guard and a three-time Academic All-Big State Conference selection.

The Hilltoppers won the Big State Conference title during Terry’s freshman season in 1986-87, and Terry also served as team captain during his junior and senior campaigns. Terry started his coaching career at St. Edward’s. He worked for one season (1990-91) as an assistant coach before moving on to a post as an assistant coach at Austin Bowie (Texas) High School.

St. Edward’s is a nationally ranked, liberal arts university located just south of downtown in Austin. Founded in 1885 by the Congregation of Holy Cross, St. Edward’s has been a proud Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) now for over 30 years. The Hilltoppers field 11 NCAA Division II athletic teams as a member of the Lone Star Conference.
