The Mississippi State basketball team is set to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers in the First Four In Round of the NCAA Tournament. Tonight’s basketball game will tip off at 8:10 p.m. CT/9:10 p.m. ET. The matchup between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Pittsburgh Panthers will be played at the University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, Ohio.
Here are some notes that you need to know before watching today’s Mississippi State basketball game:
The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Pittsburgh Panthers will face off tonight in a “First Four In” game to determine who will be the true No. 11 seed in the Midwest region of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of tonight’s game will face off against the No. 6 seed, the Iowa State Cyclones.
Here is a look at the Midwest region of the NCAA Tournament:

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are 22-11 entering tonight’s NCAA Tournament matchup vs. the Pittsburgh Panthers. The Bulldogs finished non-conference play this season with only one loss. Mississippi State’s twelve losses are against the Drake Bulldogs, the Alabama Crimson Tide (three times), the Tennessee Volunteers (two times), the Georgia Bulldogs, the Auburn Tigers, the Florida Gators, the Kentucky Wildcats, the Missouri Tigers, and the Vanderbilt Commodores.
The Pittsburg Panthers finished the 2022-2023 college basketball regular season with a 22-11 overall record and 14-6 in the ACC. The Panthers finished fifth in their conference this season. The ACC seems to be a bit down from years past, but the Panthers took advantage of that and found their way into the NCAA Tournament.

Prediction: The Mississippi State Bulldogs have not been in the NCAA Tournament since 2019, but first-year head coach, Chris Jans, had other plans for the 2022-2023 Mississippi State basketball team. The grit that this team plays with is what I am basing my prediction on. Give me the Bulldogs in tonight’s NCAA Tournament matchup, 68-60.
