CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI men’s basketball will spend its Thanksgiving holiday in paradise as the Panthers are set to compete in the 2023 edition of the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis at the Imperial Arena on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
The bracket for the 12th edition of the tournament was released on Wednesday afternoon featuring an eight-team field including Stanford, Memphis, Michigan, North Carolina, Villanova, Texas Tech, Arkansas and UNI.
UNI will open this year’s Battle 4 Atlantis on Nov. 22 in the tournament’s opening game at 11 a.m. CT against North Carolina on ESPN. The Panthers will then take on either Villanova or Texas Tech on Thanksgiving Day, followed by Michigan, Memphis, Arkansas or Stanford in their final game on Nov. 24.
This year marks UNI’s third time participating in the multi-team event in the Bahamas. The Panthers made their Battle 4 Atlantis debut in 2012 with an eighth place finish, and made the 2017 championship game after wins over SMU and North Carolina State.
The Panthers have previously faced six members of this year’s Battle 4 Atlantis, including North Carolina, who UNI upset in Nov. 2015 at home when the Tar Heels were ranked No. 1 in the nation. UNI has never played Texas Tech or Michigan.
The remainder of UNI’s non-conference schedule will be released at a later date.
