Lynx Sign 2023 Draft Selections – Minnesota Lynx – WNBA

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has signed draft selections Diamond Miller, Dorka Juhász, Brea Beal and Taylor Soule. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Selected at No. 2 overall, Miller played in 34 games (34 starts) for the University of Maryland Terrapins while averaging 19.7 points, 2.9 assists and 2.1 steals in the 2022-23 season. She earned a WBCA All-American selection as well as AP, The Athletic, and USBWA All-American Second-Team. Miller helped lead Maryland to an appearance in the Elite Eight where she amassed 79 points, 24 rebounds, 12 assists and eight steals. She finished her four-year career with the Terrapins with 1,706 points, 578 rebounds and 301 assists across 117 games (84 starts).
Juhász, selected No. 16 overall, finished her graduate campaign averaging 14.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game. She was named a semi-finalist for the Lisa Leslie award for the nation’s best center and proved to be a strong defensive force for the University of Connecticut Huskies in the 2022-23 season, leading the team and second in the Big East with 9.9 rebounds per a game and finished the season first in the Big East Conference with a 77.3 defensive rating.
Selected at No. 24 overall, a 6-1 guard from the University of South Carolina, Beal was a finalist for the 2022-23 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year and earned nods to the SEC All-Defense Team and an AP All-American honorable mention. At the conclusion of the season, she had a defensive rating of 77.9, which ranked her third overall in the SEC. She was a four-year starter for the South Carolina Gamecocks where she was a part of three SEC titles, three SEC Tournament Championships, and most notably, was a key player in winning the NCAA National Championship in 2022. At the end of her career, she held averages of 6.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
Soule, a forward from Virginia Tech, was selected No. 28 overall. She averaged 10.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in the 2022-23 season, which led to selections to Second Team All-ACC and the ACC’s All-Tournament Second Team and ended with the program’s first Final Four appearance. Prior to Virginia Tech, the West Lebanon, New Hampshire native played four seasons at Boston College where she amassed 1,500 points and earned All-ACC honors throughout the last three years for the Eagles. She held career averages of 12.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 149 games (138 starts).
