Potential options emerge during Caleb Love's mysterious portal re-recruitment – 247Sports
Ever since the news broke that North Carolina guard Caleb Love is back in the transfer portal, several schools have popped up as potential destinations or possible fit for the 6-foot-4 guard: Alabama, Arizona, Gonzaga, Indiana, Louisville, Texas and UConn, to name a few.
Figuring out exactly who has the best shot for Love, who ranks No. 16 overall in the 247Sports Transfer Portal Rankings, has been the tough part.
Behind the scenes, sources tell 247Sports that Love and his family have stressed that they would like to keep things quiet. Love hasn’t made any comments regarding his recruitment and is currently away from the media in Arizona working out with his trainer. Also, because it’s a dead period for recruiting, Love hasn’t been able to take any visits, making it even harder to track his movements.
However, the three programs that keep coming up in conversations with sources around Love are Arizona, Gonzaga and Texas. Given that all three of those programs are actively looking for another guard via the portal, it’s not surprising to hear them mentioned in connection with the high scoring guard.

Texas seems to have been involved the longest while Arizona was right on its heels. Gonzaga emerged a bit over the course of the weekend.
From the sounds of it, the race between those programs is a pretty tight one but the decision could be coming in the near future. The word is that Love would like to be on campus for the start of any summer workouts. As for visits, there has still been no word about anything being set or if he will even need to take them before making a decision.

That’s a lot of volume already to share between those two. EXPLAINING THE FIT FOR GONZAGA
“Mark Few saw former five-star point guard Hunter Sallis hit the portal, landing at Wake Forest, but majorly upgraded by way of Creighton transfer Ryan Nembhard, an experienced star who is one of the best players in college basketball. Gonzaga added shooting guard Steele Venters (92 rating) as well. This would be a loaded backcourt with Love, who could gift Gonzaga an off-ball, shot-making boost it lacked last season. Gonzaga is set to lose both Julian Strawther and Drew Timme to the next level.”
Like most portal recruitments, Love’s appears to be fluid. The group of programs that is coming up the most today is a different than the one that was being talked about behind the scenes when his parting with Michigan became public.

A five-star prospect coming out of high school, Love scored 1,476 points, handed out 337 assists and grabbed 329 rebounds during his three seasons in Chapel Hill.
