The No. 13 seed Ohio State Buckeyes will try to continue their magical run through the Big Ten Tournament when they face the No. 1 seed Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday afternoon. Ohio State has won three games in three days to become the lowest seed to ever make the semifinals of the tournament. Purdue took control down the stretch of its quarterfinal matchup against Rutgers on Friday, notching a 70-65 win. You can watch Saturday’s game on CBS and stream the game on Paramount+.
Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. ET at the United Center in Chicago. The latest Purdue vs. Ohio State odds from Caesars Sportsbook list the Boilermakers as 7.5-point favorites, while the over/under for total points is 132.5. For Ohio State vs. Purdue, the model projects that Ohio State covers the spread. The Buckeyes were one of the few teams to really test Purdue during the beginning of conference play, leading for most of the first half in a game that was ultimately decided by a late 3-pointer from Purdue’s Fletcher Loyer. Purdue looked shaky down the stretch of the regular season, losing four of its final eight games after climbing to No. 1 in the polls.
The Boilermakers struggled at times on Friday, trailing for most of the first half and failing to cover the spread as 6.5-point favorites against Rutgers. They shot just 7 of 20 from 3-point range and were 19 of 27 from the charity stripe. Ohio State has found its top form at the right time, rattling off three consecutive wins to keep its NCAA Tournament hopes alive.
The Buckeyes were 6.5-point underdogs in their 68-58 win against Michigan State on Friday, with freshman guard Bruce Thornton leading a trio of double-digit scorers with 21 points. They shot 52.6% from 3-point range while holding the Spartans to an 18.8% clip from beyond the arc. Ohio State has covered the spread in six straight games, which is one reason why the Buckeyes are covering this spread well over 60% of the time. Stream the game here.
