Basketball schedule leads weekend sports TV listings, games to watch – The Arizona Republic

Planning your television viewing for the weekend in sports?
You’ve come to the right place.
Even without NFL playoff games (the Super Bowl is Feb. 12), there are still plenty of games to keep an eye on this weekend.
Here are some of the best games to watch from Friday, Feb. 3 through Sunday, Feb. 5, with NBA and college basketball headlining the action.

Men’s college basketball: VCU at Saint Louis, 5 p.m., ESPN2
These teams are battling for the Atlantic 10 regular season title with VCU currently at 8-2 in conference and Saint Louis at 7-2.
NBA: Phoenix Suns at Boston Celtics, 5:30 p.m., Bally Sports Arizona, NBA TV
The Celtics are 37-15 and in first place in the East. The Suns are currently in eighth in the West, and could use a big win.
Men’s college basketball: Boise State at San Diego State, 7 p.m., FS1
First place in the Mountain West is on the line with both teams sitting at 8-2 in conference play, so this is a big game.
Men’s college basketball: Kent State at Akron, 7 p.m., ESPN2
Sense a theme in Friday night’s televised college basketball games? Both of these teams are 8-1 in the Mid-American Conference and battling for first place.

Men’s college basketball: Kansas at Iowa State, 10 a.m., ESPN
Kansas is No. 8 in the nation. Iowa State is No. 13. Need we write more?
Men’s college basketball: Auburn at Tennessee, noon, ESPN
The second Top-25 matchup of the day, this one in the SEC. These teams do not like each other one bit.
College football: Reese’s Senior Bowl, 12:30 p.m., NFL Network
You can get your football fix by watching college players try to elevate their stock for the 2023 NFL draft.
Men’s college basketball: Miami at Clemson, 1 p.m., ACC Network
You might have to try hard to find this one, but the Top 25 ACC matchup could be worth it.
NHL: NHL All-Star Game, 1 p.m., ABC
Each division has a team and the teams compete in a single-elimination tournament to play in the final. Should be interesting.
Men’s college basketball: Purdue at Indiana, 2 p.m., ESPN
Purdue enters this game with the No. 1 ranking in the nation, but No. 21 Indiana is no pushover.
Men’s college basketball: Texas at Kansas State, 2 p.m., ESPN2
Forget Top 25 matchups, this is a game pitting Top 10 teams and it could be very interesting.
NBA: Dallas Mavericks at Golden State Warriors, 6:30 p.m., ABC
Just a half-game separates these teams in the Western Conference standings and something tells us they could meet in the playoffs.
Men’s college basketball: Gonzaga at St. Mary’s, 8:30 p.m., ESPN
Good things come to those who wait up for late night West Coast Conference men’s college basketball games.

Women’s college basketball: South Carolina at UConn, 10 a.m., Fox
No. 1 in the country against No. 5. Get your early-morning popcorn ready.
Bowling: U.S. Open Finals, noon, Fox
Who doesn’t enjoy watching a little bowling every now and then?
NFL: Pro Bowl, 1 p.m., ABC, ESPN
This year’s format is very different, with some special events and a flag football tournament. Might want to tune it.
Women’s college basketball: Ohio State at Maryland, 2 p.m., ESPN2
No. 10 in the nation at No. 8. Get some more popcorn ready.
NBA: Philadelphia 76ers at New York Knicks, 4 p.m., ESPN
The 76ers are among the elite teams in the East and the Knicks are fighting for playoff positioning. Every game could count.
Men’s college basketball: Houston at Tempe, 4 p.m., ESPN2
Something tells us Houston could have a say in the national title race this season, so the Cougars might be worth keeping an eye on in this game.
NASCAR: Clash at Daytona RC, 6 p.m., Fox
This exhibition takes place at LA Memorial Coliseum, so yeah, it might be interesting.
