After a successful business/vacation trip to Italy and Spain, where the BC Men’s basketball team got some time on the court as well as some sightseeing, the team has returned home for a little R&R before school and the 2023-24 season gets going.  While the teams get some rest, off-the-court news continues to be made. The non-conference portion of the upcoming season has been released by the program. Along with the trip to Kansas City to play in an in-season tournament in November, Boston College will make a trip to Nashville TN to take on Vanderbilt as part of the new ACC/SEC challenge. On December 10 BC will make a trip to Brooklyn, NY to take part in the NABC Brooklyn Showcase. They will be the third game of the day and will face an old friend in ST. John’s with their new head coach Rick Pinto.
There is only one legit road game on the early season schedule. A trip to The Citadel on Nov.19. This will be a special game for head coach Earl Grant as the Citadel is where coach Grant began his coaching career. This is also the start of a three-year contract between the schools. The schedule starts with a home game on November 6 vs Fairfield. It will continue with home matches with Richmond and Havard. In December, there are three more home games vs Central Connecticut, Holy Cross, and Lehigh. From there, it will be on to the ACC Conference schedule.
A member of last year’s team is getting the chance to continue his playing career overseas. Makai Ashton-Langford has signed a deal with KK Vrijednosnice Osijek in the Croatian Prva Liga. The 6-3 guard who began his college career at Providence before transferring to Boston College, played in all 31 games a season ago. He averaged 12.4 points a game shooting 46.5% from the field and 31.4% from three-point range. He averaged 30.6 minutes on the court. Ashton-Langford was very good with the rock in his hands turning the ball over only 2.2 times a game. He finished with 20 double-digit scoring games of which three were 20+games.
