2024-25 NBA championship odds: The Oklahoma City Thunder are on the rise – FOX Sports

The Boston Celtics are NBA champions for the 18th time after knocking off the Dallas Mavericks in five games in this year’s Finals.
But the path to another championship won’t be a cakewalk, with a number of real contenders in both conferences.
One of the Celtics’ Eastern Conference foes made a few huge moves last week, with the Knicks acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Nets and re-signing OG Anunoby.
Then, on the first day of free agency, another East foe, the Philadelphia 76ers, made waves by signing nine-time All-Star Paul George to a four-year max contract.
The signing moved their odds of winning a title from +1500 up to +850, tied for third on the board.
However, the move that had the biggest shift near the top of the oddsboard was Oklahoma City’s signing of center Isiah Hartenstein, which may just make the Thunder a dynasty. Their 2024-25 title odds moved from +850 to +750, and they only trail the Boston Celtics

Along with George signing in Philly, the Sixers also inked franchise cornerstone Tyrese Maxey to a max extension, meaning the trio of George, Maxey and former NBA MVP Joel Embiid appear to be in it for the long haul.
Still, there will be questions about health when it comes to the Sixers, considering George has played 70-plus games just once in the past five seasons and Embiid has never played 70-plus games in a season.
In addition, Maxey missed 12 games last season and 22 in 2022-23.
“I think [the Sixers] are tied at No. 2 [with the Knicks], but I think the durability asterisk is real,” said FOX Sports’ John Fanta on Monday’s edition of “The Carton Show”. Because if we were talking about Joel Embiid and Paul George, and there was no question of [injuries], I think there’s a world where you would give the Sixers the slight lean [over the Knicks]. … It’s a three-horse race in the East. If you’re the New York Knicks and you don’t have Mikal Bridges on your team right now, we are definitely saying Philadelphia has moved slightly ahead of them.
“I think the team that gets left behind is the Milwaukee Bucks.”
The Bucks’ odds to win the title have moved from +1100 to +1500 over the past week.
