College basketball broadcaster Dick Vitale announced Friday that he is in a cancer battle once again.
In a post on X, the ESPN voice said a biopsy of a lymph node in his neck came back positive for cancer.
“With all the [prayers] I have received & the loving support of my family, friends & @espn colleagues I will win this battle,” Vitale wrote.
Vitale, 85, will be undergoing surgery Tuesday to remove the cancerous cells in the lymph node, he said.
On Facebook, he said the cancer was found via scan during a quarterly checkup.
“Thanks so much to those that have been in my corner,” Vitale wrote. “Means a great deal to me.”
Last year, the Basketball Hall of Famer said he was diagnosed with vocal cord cancer and planned to undergo six weeks of radiation to help cure it.
Vitale was also diagnosed with cancer in 2021. The college basketball analyst broke down in tears during a game at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas five weeks after his cancer diagnosis as he thanked fans for their support.
“It’s great being here, Dave. I didn’t want to cry,” Vitale told the audience and colleague Dave O’Brien at the time.
Vitale has also previously been diagnosed with melanoma and bile duct cancer.
