NBA Play: How to Play and FAQs – NBA.com
What you need to know about NBA Play, a new destination for daily interactive basketball games on NBA.com and the NBA App.
Welcome to NBA Play: A brand new destination for daily interactive basketball games, only in the NBA App. Before this free-to-play activation launches on Dec. 25, here is everything you need to know about these brand new games.
How to Play
NBA Rank
Rank players, teams or events in order in the least amount of tries.
Fans receive five tries total to get it correct.
A fan will be notified if any of their answer choices are in the correct spot.
NBA IQ
Fans must fill out a leaderboard in order within the allotted time from highest to lowest.
NBA Full Court Guess
Fans will receive five attempts to guess the player behind the three clues.
NBA Hoop Connect
Fans are shown two players and must identify a mutual teammate who has played with both players to earn a rarity score.
Earn a rarity score from 1-100 with 100 being the best. Rarity scores are weighted based on players’ career stats (points, rebounds, assists, etc.) how long they played with the two teammates and how recently the player played in the NBA.
Fewer games and lower stats lead to a higher rarity score. The rarer the score, the better!
* For all games going back to the 1996-97 season, a player is considered a teammate of another player if they appeared on the active roster with that player. They do not have to play in the game, but if a player is signed by a team, but never appears on the active roster, they will not be counted as a teammate for players on that team.
NBA Player Path
Fans are shown an NBA player with a list of the teams that the player has played for and must put the teams in order from a player’s rookie team through to their current team or final team if retired.
* Note: To be considered to have played for a team, a player must appear on the active roster for that team. If a player was traded to or signed by a team, but they never appeared on the active roster, that team will not appear in their player path. This includes all games going back to the 1996-97 season.
NBA Blast
Collect enough points in each level within the available moves to unlock the next level. Fans gain points by connecting three or more icons.
Boosts: When users connect four or more icons, they get a boost. Swipe this boost to clear a full row of icons and to score extra points. The Larry O’Brien boost trophy can move either horizontally or vertically.
Stars: Get one star for reaching the minimum required score per level to advance to the next one, but the higher the score is the more stars a user will receive.
Fans can play levels again to improve their score per level to increase their total high score and climb up the leaderboard.
