The NBA lets more than half of its teams into the playoffs, which leads to what feels like around-the-clock high-stakes games for weeks on end. The action is non-stop — until it stops.
As the number of teams still standing dwindles, so does the number of games. That’s going to lead to a handful of off-days even with so much still up in the air.
As we approach a Game 7 between the Celtics and 76ers and the conference finals to bring the season one step closer to a conclusion, the remaining schedule is taking shape.

Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming NBA playoff schedule, including whether any games are scheduled for Saturday.
There is no NBA game on Saturday.
While off-days sometimes occur because of a series ending early, Saturday was a built-in off-day on the 2023 schedule. The NBA was aiming for a potential Game 7 tripleheader on Mother’s Day; it will get one game instead, with the Celtics and 76ers facing off for a trip to the Eastern Conference finals.

Had the Suns defeated the Nuggets in Game 6 and forced a Game 7, those teams would have gotten an extra day of rest and waited until Sunday.
The Knicks-Heat and Warriors-Lakers series ended Friday night, with Miami eliminating New York and Los Angeles dethroning reigning champion Golden State. There was no scenario that would have allowed either series to have a Game 7 on Saturday. Warriors-Lakers would have concluded Sunday, while Knicks-Heat would have wrapped Monday.
The Western Conference finals are set to start Tuesday night in Denver, while the Eastern Conference finals will begin Wednesday night in Boston or Philadelphia.
