Multiple fights break out at Teaneck High School after basketball game – NorthJersey.com
Police officers broke up multiple small fights among a “large and disruptive crowd” at Teaneck High School following a varsity boys basketball game on Thursday against Hackensack High School, according to the Teaneck Police Department.
At the conclusion of Teaneck’s 54-52 win in the opening night rivalry game, around 9:05 p.m., officers at the event observed several small fights. They also received word that a boy had a handgun in the parking lot near the school located on Cranford Avenue.
Aaron Taylor, Hackensack’s veteran coach and a former standout player, said the Comets were asked to remain in the building, then board the team bus from a side entrance.
“They didn’t want us to leave out the front,” Taylor said. “We were leaving out the back, so they had to get the bus to the locker room side.”
The Teaneck basketball coach and the district’s superintendent have not yet responded to requests for comment.

Officers from 10 additional towns responded and assisted with dispersing the crowd and searching for the suspect.
The suspect was not found during the search and no additional information has been reported.
There were no reported injuries and no arrests have been made.
An investigation into the cause of the fights and the involved individuals is being conducted.
