High school basketball playoffs results, Saturday's schedule for area teams – Greenville News
Wade Hampton advanced to the Class AAAA boys Upper State high school basketball semifinals Friday night by knocking off a Westside team that had won 15 of its last 16 games.
The third-seeded Generals (15-7) were also getting hot at the right time, though, having won seven of the last eight games of the regular season and then beating South Pointe in the first round of the playoffs. Sixth-seeded Westside (24-3) since the middle of December had lost only to Class AAA second-ranked Greenville, two weeks later avenging that defeat with a 20-point victory.
In Class AAAAA girls playoffs, Dorman and Mauldin both advanced to the Upper State semifinals. In Class AAA boys, Wren and Travelers Rest advanced. Landrum was the last local team in Class AA girls, but the Cardinals lost to Silver Bluff. High Point and St. Joseph’s both won in Class A girls. They will be matched up in the Upper State semifinals.
Saturday’s games on the boys’ side will include Dorman, Byrnes, T.L. Hanna, Landrum, Christ Church and High Point. Girls’ games will include Riverside, Easley, Wade Hampton and Eastside in Class AAAA as well as Southside, Chapman, Travelers Rest, Broome, Wren and Blue Ridge in Class AAA.
