Dylan Harper, the No. 1 player in the class of 2024, has been in the midst of one of the biggest recruitment battles in the country this year. He cut his list down to five schools including Auburn, Duke, Indiana, Kansas and Rutgers in January and since that time he has been eyeing a commitment following Peach Jam, which is more than halfway complete in North Augusta, South Carolina.
“I am just waiting until after Peach Jam to make my announcement,” Harper told 247Sports back in early April.
Since then, things have slowed down for Harper and the expected and hopeful timeframe could be opening up a bit.
He discussed where things stand with 247Sports at Peach Jam on Thursday night.
“It’s good,” he said of his recruitment. “Everything is neutral right now. The main goal right now is to put college aside and focus on what is in front of me which is Peach Jam.”
He told 247Sports that all his thoughts remain the same regarding each school that he has shared over the course of his recruitment with 247Sports, which you can read about here.
So, with Peach Jam nearing its close, where does he stand on making a decision?
“Probably some time after this or during the high school season,” he said.
With his timeline being more fluid as of today, he shared what it is that he’s looking for to push him over the edge and make an announcement.
“Probably learning about the schools and programs as a whole and just getting a feel for how the coaches in my top five take care of everyone,” he said. “Even like 1-15, bench players and star players, how they all treat each other.”
“If I feel like the fit is right with the school,” he concluded.
While he is down to five, Rutgers and Duke have been the two primary contenders battling things out at the top.
Will he be a Blue Devil, a Scarlet Knight or something else? No one seems to know.
