What time does NBA free agency start in 2023? When players can begin to negotiate with teams – Sporting News
Before 2019, NBA fans and media members were always prepared to brew a pot of coffee or buy a few energy drinks in order to follow along with free agency. The initial negotiation period previously began at 12:01 a.m. ET on July 1.
Thankfully, the league adjusted its offseason schedule four years ago. Teams and players are now permitted to officially hold conversations much earlier in the day, so you no longer have to worry about falling asleep and missing a “Woj Bomb.”
With one of the wildest stretches of the NBA calendar on the horizon, The Sporting News has everything you need to know about free agency right here.
FREE AGENCY RANKINGS: Overall | PG | SG | SF
NBA free agency will kick off on Friday, June 30, at 6 p.m. ET. Teams can begin negotiating with free agents at that time.
Most contracts can’t officially be signed until Thursday, July 6, at 12:01 p.m. ET. However, many players will agree to the terms of a contract verbally before putting pen to paper.
