Where is Purdue basketball's 2024 recruiting class ranked nationally? – IndyStar

Ranked No. 2 in the country, the now looks rosy for Purdue basketball. The future doesn’t look too bad, either.
Matt Painter secured a top-10 recruiting class on Wednesday’s early national signing day, continuing on the momentum of the team’s Big Ten championship regular-season/tournament double last season.
The Boilermakers’ five-man class is ranked No. 9 in the country by 247Sports , headlined by former Brownsburg star Kanon Catchings (No. 22 in the class). The group also includes Brownstown Central scoring machine Jack Benter, versatile Cincinnati big man Raleigh Burgess, yet another giant in 7-3 Daniel Jacobsen out of Wisconsin and under-the-radar shooting guard CJ Cox out of Massachusetts.
It is Painter’s highest-ranked recruiting class since the 2007 Baby Boilers class was ranked fifth. That group included future Purdue stars Robbie Hummel, E’Twaun Moore and JaJuan Johnson.
Now, recruiting rankings don’t win games, and there are certainly plenty of swings and misses in these prognostications. Purdue fans probably know that best. It’s one-man class in 2016 was rated 108th. That one man was Carsen Edwards.
That 37th-ranked group in 2020? That had one NBA draft lottery pick (Jaden Ivey) and a national player of the year (Zach Edey).
So, take it with a grain of salt. But it doesn’t mean Boilers fans can’t have a little extra pep in their step.
