West Virginia sweeps B.A.C.F. basketball games over Ohio – WTAP
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) –
Friday night was the 21st annual playing of the Battle Against Cystic Fibrosis all-star basketball games at the Rod Oldham Athletic Center at Parkersburg South High School, and Team West Virginia got victories in both the boys and girls basketball games.
In the boys game, after Ohio held a 22 point lead at points in the first half, West Virginia took the game over, and Ravenswood’s Logan Alfred hit the game-winning lay up with under ten seconds left in the 4th quarter.
The West Virginia team M.V.P. was Buckhannon-Upshur’s Jaden Westfall, who had 23 points. Wahama’s Bryce Zuspan, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, scored 13 points in the win for Team W. Va.
The Ohio M.V.P. was Federal Hocking’s Tariq Cottrill who scored 26 points to lead all scorers.
West Virginia now leads the all-time series against Ohio 14-7.
The girls game was a bigger margin of victory for West Virginia, as they took down their foes from Ohio 114-97. The West Virginia M.V.P. was Parkersburg High School’s Trinity Balog, with 34 points to lead all scorers. The Ohio team’s M.V.P. was Fairland’s Bree Allen who scored 29 points.
West Virginia takes the lead in the series 11-10.
There were contests held at halftime of each game. At halftime of the girls game, Marietta’s Izak Knighten won the dunk contest, and Calhoun County’s Landon Bennett was the winner of three-point shootout.
At halftime of the boys game, Parkersburg South’s Gracie Shamblin won the free throw shootout, and Ripley’s Sophie Nichols won the three-point shootout.
