The updated bracket and schedule for Round 2 of the NBA playoffs – NBC New York
The second round of the 2024 NBA playoffs has tipped off.
The postseason field was cut in half following the conclusion of Round 1, with just eight teams remaining in the battle for the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
The Eastern Conference semifinalists feature the No. 1 Boston Celtics, No. 2 New York Knicks, No. 4 Cleveland Cavaliers and No. 6 Indiana Pacers.

The final four teams in the Western Conference, meanwhile, are the No. 1 Oklahoma City Thunder, No. 2 Denver Nuggets, No. 3 Minnesota Timberwolves and No. 5 Dallas Mavericks.
With trips to the conference finals on the line, here’s what to know about Round 2 of the playoffs:

Eastern Conference
No. 1 Boston Celtics vs. No. 4 Cleveland Cavaliers: Boston wins series 4-1
No. 2 New York Knicks vs. No. 6 Indiana Pacers: Indiana wins series 4-3
Western Conference
No. 1 Oklahoma City Thunder vs. No. 5 Dallas Mavericks: Dallas wins series 4-2
No. 2 Denver Nuggets vs. No. 3 Minnesota Timberwolves: Minnesota wins series 4-3
The opening game of the second round is scheduled for Saturday, May 4.
Just like the other playoff rounds, Round 2 features a best-of-seven format where the higher seed hosts Games 1, 2, 5 and 7.

Unlike the NFL, the NBA doesn’t reseed in the playoffs. That means the 1-8 series winner meets the 4-5 series winner, while the 2-7 series winner will be up against the 3-6 series winner.
There are four rounds in the NBA playoffs. Following the second round will come the conference finals and then the NBA Finals.
