NEW YORK, Dec. 10, 2023 – The Indiana Fever won the 2024 WNBA Draft Lottery presented by State Farm® and will have the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm to be held on Monday, April 15, 2024.
This marks the second consecutive year in which the Fever won the right to select first in the upcoming draft. The Fever won the Lottery for the 2023 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm and used the No. 1 overall pick to select Aliyah Boston, who went on to be voted as the 2023 Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year.
The results of the 23rd annual Lottery were revealed by WNBA Head of League Operations Bethany Donaphin during the 30-minute, WNBA Draft Lottery presented by State Farm special between the final two games of the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase tripleheader featuring Utah vs. South Carolina and North Carolina vs. UConn. This marks the 12th consecutive year that ESPN networks has presented the WNBA Draft Lottery presented by State Farm®.
Indiana, which won the WNBA Draft Lottery presented by State Farm for the second time in franchise history, entered the Lottery with the most chances (442) to land the top pick.
The Los Angeles Sparks, which had the third-most chances (178) to win the top pick, will have the second selection. The Phoenix Mercury will select third after having the second-most chances to land the top pick (276). The Seattle Storm, which had 104 chances to receive the first pick, will choose fourth.
By missing the 2023 WNBA Playoffs presented by Google, Indiana, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Seattle qualified for the 2024 Draft Lottery presented by State Farm.
A representative from the accounting firm of Ernst & Young was in attendance to oversee the Lottery process.
The following are results of the 2024 WNBA Draft Lottery presented by State Farm.
* On Feb. 11, 2023, Dallas received Chicago’s 2024 first-round pick, the right to swap its own 2025 first-round pick with Chicago’s 2025 first-round pick, Phoenix’s 2023 first-round pick previously acquired by Chicago, and Diamond DeShields from Phoenix in a four-team trade that also saw Chicago receive Marina Mabrey from Dallas via sign-and-trade and Phoenix’s 2024 second-round pick, while Phoenix received Michaela Onyenwere from New York and Chicago’s 2024 third-round pick and 2025 second-round pick, and New York received the right to swap its own 2025 first-round pick with Phoenix’s 2025 first-round pick, and the draft rights to Leonie Fiebich from Chicago along with Chicago’s 2024 second-round pick.
^ On Jan. 21, 2023, Los Angeles received Las Vegas’ 2024 first-round pick and Dearica Hamby in exchange for the exclusive negotiating rights to Amanda Zahui B. and Los Angeles’ 2024 second-round pick.
