It’s been around 45 days since the start of the 2023 NCAA Basketball offseason. And almost all teams need to replace some talent that left either via graduation, the pro ranks, or nowadays, the transfer portal. Many teams such as Arkansas, Duke, Tennessee, and others have done a great job in rebuilding for the 2023-24 campaign.
But there are also some programs that have also fallen behind when it comes to adding talent and could be in store for a rough upcoming season. There’s still plenty of time but those programs will need to get it going and as time ticks on, the number of power conference contributors is starting to dwindle.
Focusing mainly on the power conference teams, here’s a list of 15 programs that could use a couple of additions to feel good about next season.
The Tide was at times the No. 1 team in the country last season, thanks to All-American wing Brandon Miller. So his departure was always going to be tough to replace. But an underrated pair of losses at the four-spot (Noah Gurley and Noah Clowney) has them empty there unless Nick Pringle is ready to break out.
Alabama did land a pair of mid-major guard transfers in Aaron Estrada and Latrell Wrightsell but it’s not a guarantee that they’ll play well at the SEC level. And after parting ways with transfer commit Jaykwon Walton, they could be starting freshmen at both the three and four-spots.
If the Tide could at least add a proven offensive threat in the frontcourt, they’ll be in a good position. Otherwise, they’ll be a team with a low floor heading into next year.
