SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga passed their first test of the season by beating a competitive Yale team in their regular season opener 86-71. The Zags now face the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers as they look to keep momentum heading into the Allstate Maui Invitational.

Gonzaga remains ranked No. 11 in the AP Top 25 poll following a season-opening win against a competitive Yale squad. While the Zags remained No. 11, WCC rivals Saint Mary’s fell out of the top 25 following a loss at home to Weber State.
Redshirt freshman Braden Huff looked impressive in his collegiate debut, scoring 10 points quickly, helping the Zags pull away from Yale at the half.
The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers enter Tuesday’s matchup with the Zags looking to rebound from a 104-98 overtime loss to Arizona Christian University and pick up their first win of the season.
Following the game against Eastern Oregon, Gonzaga will have its eyes set on the currently ranked No. 2 team in the nation, Purdue, tipping off in the first game of the Maui Invitational on Nov. 20, at 2 p.m.
