Dylan Harper has committed to Rutgers, sources confirmed to 247Sports. The five-star combo guard from Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep is college basketball’s No. 2 national recruit in the 2024 class.
“Harper is making public that decision at the @Fanatics offices in New York shortly,” Adrian Wojnarowski first reported.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Harper is the younger brother of recent Scarlet Knights star Ron Harper Jr.
Dylan Harper decided to stay home and play for his brother’s alma mater over attending Auburn, Duke, Indiana and Kansas.
“They’re not recruiting me for my family and my brother, but they’re recruiting me for me,” Harper told 247Sports about Rutgers in a recent interview. “They have been recruiting me every step of the way so just them staying by my side is really a good thing.”
The commitment of Harper is the cap to what is an unprecedented class of 2024 for the Rutgers men’s basketball program.
Harper joins Ace Bailey, the nation’s No. 3 player, making for the program’s two highest-ranked recruits ever.
Harper brings scoring, playmaking, rebounding and passing to pair alongside Bailey’s explosive and electric game on the wing.
At the Nike EYBL Peach Jam this July, Harper averaged 21.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 52.1% from the field, 35.7% from 3.
Harper joins Bailey, Lathan Sommerville, Bryce Dortch and Dylan Grant to comprise of Rutgers’ 2024 recruiting class that now ranks No. 3 in the country.
