MOREHEAD, Ky. – In a game which featured 15 lead changes, the Marshall women’s basketball team (2-4) came on the short end of a 67-64 result on the road at Morehead State (3-4).
Neither team led by more than six points in Thursday’s game. Even with Abby Beeman’s deep game-tying three attempt at the buzzer coming just short, the Ridgeley, West Virginia native’s 13 points led the way for Coach Kim Caldwell’s Herd.
"Another disappointing one," Caldwell said. "We just have to keep trying to find an identity and keep trying to create a winning culture. It does not happen overnight and so we’re going to keep chipping away at it and be ready by late-December.

Beeman’s connection with Mahogany Matthews was on display, with three of Beeman’s five assists going to the senior forward, including a full court pass which put the Herd up five in the first quarter. The Herd’s biggest lead came in the opening quarter.
Matthews scored 11 points with five rebounds.
MSU took its first commanding lead and its largest lead in the fourth with a corner three to open the final period. The triple extended a 13-2 run that continued from the end of the previous quarter. A responsive 7-0 run from Marshall was matched with converted free throws down the stretch by the hosts to garner a three-point advantage in the final minute.
The two teams combined for 52 fouls with a total of 53 free throws attempts.
