Jayden Davis dropped 29 points and made a basket with 27 seconds left to lift Chartiers Valley to a 61-59 boys basketball victory over Peters Township in the AHN/Highmark Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night.
Jack Dunbar led Peters (0-1) with 18 points and Dylan Donovan added 15. Daniel Slizik had 12 points for the Colts (1-0).
Allderdice 59, Montour 51 – Logan Golle scored 18 points, Major Rainey had 13 and Jack Seagall made three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points as Allderdice (1-0) beat Montour (0-1) in nonsection play. Jake Wolfe and Kaleb Platz each scored 15 points for the Spartans.
Aquinas Academy 88, Cheswick Christian 65 – Grant Rochkind became the ninth player in school history to eclipse 1,000 points with a 23-point effort, but Cheswick Christian (0-1) fell to tournament host Aquinas Academy (1-0). Sam Duer had 32 points to pace Aquinas Academy.
Avonworth 55, West Shamokin 32 – Matthew Farrah scored 15 points, including three 3-pointers, and Jackson Lipchak added 11 for Avonworth (1-0) at the St. Joseph tournament. Bradyn Rodgers scored 18 for West Shamokin (0-1).
Baldwin 55, Altoona 33 – Nate Richards had 16 points, Nate Wesling scored 15 and Max Marzina added 10 as Baldwin (1-0) beat Altoona (0-1) at the AHN/Highmark Tip-Off Tournament.
Beaver 71, Plum 50 – Brady Mayo scored 27 points to lead Beaver (1-0) past Plum (0-1) at the Brentwood tournament. Ty Butler added 14 and Junior Marino had 11 for the Bobcats. Max Grice led the Mustangs with 19 points and Owen Proskin added 15.
Beaver County Christian 58, Trinity Chrisitan 47 – Hunter Mozely led all scorers with 18 points as Beaver County Christian (1-0) defeated Trinity Christian (0-1). Darnell Kite scored 13 for Trinity Christian.
Bishop Canevin 47, Keystone Oaks 41 – Daniel Guzman led the way with 17 points and Michael Vaughn scored 11 as Bishop Canevin (1-0) edged tournament host Keystone Oaks. Erond Jakupi had 13 points and Tulio Watts added 10 for Keystone Oaks.
Brashear 48, Keystone Oaks 44 — In the second of Keystone Oaks’ two games Friday at its host tournament, Titus Gillet scored 29 points to lead Brashear (1-0) to victory. Erond Jakupi had 19 points for the Golden Eagles (0-2).
Brentwood 54, Carrick 42 – Shane Palmer scored 15 points and Forrest Betz and Ian Harrington each followed with 10 as Brentwood (1-0) beat Carrick (0-1) in a tournament hosted by Brentwood. Tre Shawn Beasley scored 14 points and Brayden Fisher added 11 for the Raiders.
Burrell 52, East Allegheny 44 – Tucker Bitar scored 21 points and Macky Bennis added 17 as Burrell (1-0) beat East Allegheny (0-1) in a nonsection season opener.
Canon-McMillan 53, Washington 52 – Eamon O’Donoghue scored 16 points and Evan Morris followed with 15 to lead Canon-McMillan (1-0) past Washington (0-1) in the Canon-Mac tournament. Braden Wise scored 12 points, Zxavian Willis finished with 10 and De’Ondre Daugherty had 11 for the Prexies.
Carmichaels 49, Mapletown 41 – Dominic Colarusso scored 17 points while Ambrose Anderson and Liam Lohr scored 11 points apiece to lead Carmichaels (1-0) to a win over Mapletown (0-1) in nonsection play. Jeremiah Mick had 12 points and Braden McIntire made three 3s and finished with 11 points for the Maples.
Chartiers-Houston 78, Avella 61 – Nate Gregory (19), Paul Williamson (14), Justus Buckingham (12) and Jack Lochran (11) all scored in double figures for Chartiers-Houston (1-0) in a win over Avella (0-1) in the McGuffey tournament. Westley Burchianti led all scorers with 26 points and Bryce Wright added 18 for the Eagles.
Deer Lakes 56, Armstrong 53 – Collin Rodgers scored 28 points to lead Deer Lakes (1-0) past Armstrong (0-1) at the tournament hosted by the River Hawks. Ben Bartolovic and Ian Olsen each scored 13 for Armstrong.
Derry 56, Laurel Highlands 55 – Nate Papuga scored the game winner with 7.8 seconds left and finished with 37 points to lead Derry (1-0) past Laurel Highlands (0-1) in the Cougar Invitational at Yough. Ethan Koffler (15), Jaden Ringer (11) and Antwan Black (10) scored in double figures for the Mustangs.
Franklin Regional 63, Connellsville 35 – Franklin Regional opened the season with a mercy-rule win in the 19th Hempfield tip-off tournament. Colin Masten led all scorers with 15 points, while Cam Rowell had 11 and Fin Hutchinson and Cooper Rankin added nine apiece. Franklin Regional led 28-5 after the first quarter and 40-16 at halftime.
Hampton 67, Seneca Valley 40 – Peter Kramer scored 27 points, hitting four 3-pointers, and Alex Nyilas added 15 with five 3s to lead Hampton (1-0) past Seneca Valley (0-1) at the North Hills tournament.
Hempfield 66, Greensburg Salem 44 — Drew Gordon had 16 points and Adam Woodley added 12 as Hempfield won its season opener in the 19th Hempfield tip-off tournament. The Spartans (1-0) took a 30-15 lead into halftime. AJ Tarpley led the Golden Lions (0-1) with 16 points and Ryan Burkhart added 14.
Hickory 42, Ellwood City 41 – Ryan Dye scored 17 points and Ryan Robich added 13 for Hickory in a win against Ellwood City (0-1) in the Midland Classic at Geneva College. Joe Roth dropped a double-double (23 points, 13 rebounds) and Aaron Lake had 12 points for the Wolverines.
Highlands 66, Eden Christian 42 – Cameron Reigard scored 19 points, Bradyn Foster added 15 and Jordyn Tavarez had 17 as Highlands (1-0) beat Eden Christian (0-1) at the Shaler tournament. Nathan Garrett scored 16 for Eden Christian.
Hopewell 64, Freedom 35 – Mason Showrank had 16 points and Zachary Kovell scored 14 to lead Hopewell (1-0) past Freedom (0-1) at the South Side tournament.
Indiana 65, Marion Center 40 – Aaron Webb made five 3-pointers and dropped 23 points and Stanford Webb sank four 3-pointers and had 19 points as Indiana (1-0) beat Marion Center in a tournament hosted by Indiana. Cameron Pack scored 15 points and Kandin Rozier added 10 for Marion Center.
Kiski Area 56, Westmont Hilltop 42 – Colin Keller hit five 3-pointers and scored 23 points to lead Kiski Area (1-0) at the Armstrong tournament. Isaiah Gonzalez added 17 for the Cavaliers.
Leechburg 40, Apollo-Ridge 28 — Brady Bollinger had 16 points and Brian Talarico scored 14, including six in the fourth quarter, as host Leechburg (1-0) earned a tip-off tournament win.
Lincoln Park 69, Devon Prep 38 — Brandin Cummings poured in 27 points and Meleek Thomas had 15 as Lincoln Park (1-0) rolled to a season-opening win at the Midland Classic.
Mars 74, Franklin 68 – Ryan Ceh led all scorers with 21 points and Austin Campbell added 20 to lead Mars (1-0) to a victory against Franklin in the Sharon tournament. Remi Black scored 15 points and Drew Navetta had 14 for the Fightin’ Planets.
McGuffey 66, Frazier 49 – Grayson Wallace led all scorers with 25 points, Ayden Cunningham followed with 21 and Chris Ealy had 12 as McGuffey (1-0) defeated Frazier (0-1) in a tournament hosted by the Highlanders. Dalian McManus (12), Brock Alekson (11) and Trey Whitehead (10) scored in double figures for the Commodores.
Mercyhurst Prep 63, Neshannock 53 – Jeremy Ganska led Mercyhurst Prep (1-0) with 16 points in a win over Neshannock (0-1) in a tournament hosted by Neshannock. David Kwiat scored 14 points for the Lancers.
Neighborhood Academy 66, Propel Andrew Street 15 – John Wilkins recorded a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds and Courtney Wallace also added 19 points for Neighborhood Academy (1-0) in a win against Propel Andrew Street (0-1).
North Hills 81, Perry Traditional Academy 23 – Eric James dropped 21 points, Nathan Schanbacher added 14, Zach Pollaro scored 13 and Logan Johnson had 10 points for North Hills (1-0) in a big win over Perry (0-1) at the North Hills tournament. Javon Diamond scored 10 points to lead Perry.
Norwin 60, Steel Valley 30 – Luke Denny and Christopher McKnight each scored 10 points as Norwin (1-0) doubled up Steel Valley (0-1) in a tournament hosted by the Knights. Nahjer Norris led the Ironmen with nine points.
OLSH 48, Albert Gallatin 42 – Jake Johnson scored 13 points and Greg Mineard had 12 points on four 3-pointers as OLSH (1-0) slipped past Albert Gallatin (0-1) at the Brownsville tournament. Shymere Wilson had 15 points for the Colonials.
Quaker Valley 54, Sewickley Academy 46 – Joe Coyle scored 30 points to lead Quaker Valley (1-0) past Sewickley Academy (0-1) at the Carlynton tournament.
Ringgold 55, Charleroi 53 — At the MVI Invitational, Szyair Dungee and Daryl Tolliver each scored 16 points to lead Ringgold (1-0) to victory. Bryce Large had 21 points for Charleroi (0-1).
Riverside 49, Wilmington 26 – Drake Fox led Riverside (1-0) with 20 points and made four 3-pointers as the Panthers beat Wilmington in the Laurel tip-off tournament. Landon Kline made three 3s and finished with 12 points for Wilmington.
Rochester 48, Central Valley 46 – Xavier Rigby scored 12 and Jayvin Hemer added 10 for Rochester (1-0) in a victory over Central Valley (0-1) in nonsection play. Isaiah Jeter put up 14 points to lead the Warriors.
Seton LaSalle 56, Jeannette 49 – Patrick Weldon scored 18, Eli Smith added 12 and Hayden Merchant and Keenu Brooks each finished with 11 as Seton LaSalle (1-0) beat Jeannette (0-1) in the Norwin tournament. Kymone Brown put up 22 for the Jayhawks.
Shady Side Academy 60, Freeport 58 – Eli Teslovich stole the ball and scored the game-winning layup as time expired to lift Shady Side (1-0) over Freeport (0-1) in the Freeport tournament. Teslovich finished with 23 points, Cam Mallory added 16 and Seamus Riordan had 10 for the Bulldogs. Brady Sullivan led Freeport with 17 points.
Shaler 79, Bethel Park 59 – Brandon London dropped 26 points, Keegan Smetanka added 19 and Julian Vizzoca made four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points as Shaler (1-0) defeated Bethel Park (0-1) in the Shaler tournament.
South Allegheny 66, Serra Catholic 48 – Drew Cook scored 17 points, Justin Beatty added 14 and Cam Epps and Mike Michalski each scored 13 for South Allegheny (1-0) in a win over Serra Catholic (0-1) at the MVI Shootout at Charleroi. Isaiah Petty led all scorers with 22 points for the Eagles.
South Fayette 67, Trinity 49 – Michael Plasko led all scorers with 22 points, Gino Satira added 15 and Gavin Orosz had 11 for South Fayette (1-0) in a win over Trinity (0-1) in the Canon-McMillan tournament. Kaden Hathaway had 15 points as Jacob Dunkle and Dante DeRubbo each scored 10 points for Trinity.
South Park 69, Propel Montour 36 – Luke Scarff led the Eagles with 17 points, Danny Batista followed with 15 and Nolan Oliphant finished with 10 as South Park (1-0) defeated Propel Montour (0-1) in nonsection play. Ty’Aire Hawkins led Propel Montour with 11 points.
Thomas Jefferson 77, Elizabeth Forward 51 – Evan Berger, Noah Prosser and Brody Evans scored 12 points each to help Thomas Jefferson (1-0) earn a victory in the MVI Shootout at Charleroi. Isaiah Turner had a game-high 17 points for Elizabeth Forward (0-1).
United 53, Ligonier Valley 50 – Carter Payne paced all scorers with 19 points and Isaac Washington had 14 for United in a win against Ligonier Valley (0-1) in a tournament hosted by United. Parker Hollick scored 15 points, Simeon Pope added 12 and Michael Wisniewski finished with 11 for the Rams.
West Allegheny 56, Jefferson-Morgan 26 – Brandon Bell scored 13 points and Brady Miller and Tyler Blatz scored 10 points apiece for West Allegheny (1-0) in a win against Jefferson-Morgan (0-1) in the Fort Cherry tournament. Dayten Marion dropped 18 points for the Rockets.
Yough 59, Summit Academy 26 – Terek Crosby dropped 32 points and sank five 3-pointers while Austin Matthews added 13 points to lead Yough (1-0) to a dominating win against Summit Academy (0-1) in a tournament hosted by the Cougars.
