TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University athletics department today announced that twelve Towson University men’s and women’s basketball games during the 2023-24 season will be televised on Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s (MSE) regional sports network, including doubleheaders on December 6 and 22.
As a member of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), all regular season games Towson produces will air exclusively on FloSports digital with member institutions retaining rights to local linear television distribution.
Monumental Sports Network will carry 19 Towson events this season. Four of the five home Towson football games, including the final two home games remaining this season, and three volleyball matches in September were also included in the partnership.
“Continuing to develop our exposure in the marketplace through these broadcasts is a massive opportunity for the Tigers,” Towson Director of Athletics Steve Eigenbrot said. “Whether you are looking for Towson hoops, football or our conference champion volleyball program, Monumental Sports continues to enhance this partnership and has become the place to go to find our Tigers on TV.”
Seven of the fourteen men’s home games will be on the network, including the home opener versus Robert Morris (November 12), a marquee non-conference game versus Massachusetts (December 6) and CAA matchups against UNCW (January 6) and Northeastern (February 1). Last season, six Towson men’s basketball games were televised on the network. Towson is coming off its second straight 20-win season. The Tigers return key pieces from last season’s team including two-time All-CAA forward Charles Thompson.
“It is awesome for us to be on Monumental Sports Network,” Towson men’s basketball head coach Pat Skerry said. “So many viewers in this area watch the games and we get great comments. The visibility for our basketball program, our athletic program and our university is second to none.”
Five women’s basketball games will be part of the package headlined by conference matchups versus William & Mary (January 21), Drexel (February 16) and Delaware (February 25).  Towson is coming off a 21-12 season and a 13-5 mark in the CAA. The Tigers earned a share of the CAA regular season crown and a WNIT appearance. The Tigers return four starters, including Kylie Kornegay-Lucas who earned CAA Defensive Player of the Year and First Team all-league honors last season.
“This is very exciting for us especially with us returning a lot of star power,” said Towson women’s basketball interim head coach Christie Rogers. “We are excited to showcase all that we have and how hard the team has been working. Overall, we are super excited about our university and our administration investment in women’s basketball. “
Last fall, MSE acquired full ownership of NBC Sports Washington from Comcast/NBC Universal. The station was rebranded Monumental Sports Network in September with a new slate of programming. The network is the exclusive local television media rights holder for NHL’s Washington Capitals, NBA’s Washington Wizards and WNBA’s Washington Mystics games and also boasts the most comprehensive regional collegiate Division II-and-under and regional high-school sports programming in the greater Washington D.C. metro area.
“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Towson and offer its fan base another way to cheer on the Tigers,” said Monumental Sports Network General Manager Friday Abernethy. “Monumental Sports Network prides itself on offering the best local sports coverage in the DMV region and this agreement allows us to offer even more live, local programming on our platform.”
