Last year, a handful of WNBA players traded their uniforms for swimsuits and the court for the beach as they headed to St. Thomas with photographer Laretta Houston for a feature in the year’s SI Swimsuit Issue. Among the group was New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart.
The basketball star posed for a series of stunning photos amid the bright blue water and verdant greenery of the Caribbean island. The photoshoot featured classic and chic black swimwear, which allowed the surroundings—and the model herself—to really shine.
Taking to the beaches alongside Sue Bird, DiDi Richards, Nneka Ogwumike and Te’a Cooper, Stewart was truly a legend among legends. Her basketball career has included four NCAA national championships, numerous gold medals with the U.S. national team, a handful of All-Star honors and, after this season, two WNBA MVP awards—in ’18 and 2023.
Following the recent announcement of her newest award, Stewart took to Instagram to dedicate the honor to her family, including her daughter and partner Marta Xargay.
