One of the top NCAA Basketball prospects in the state of Texas is Micah Robinson, a 6’6 wing and a four-star recruit in the 2024 class. He has great size and uses his athleticism to be a good defender, capable of guarding multiple positions. Robinson also is a threat to slash to the basket and cause havoc in transition.
Robinson is reportedly going to pick his college destination before noon this Saturday and we know which teams are in the mix. Here’s a closer look at how he fits with each option.
If you’ve read my other recruiting list pieces, this feels like No. 45 among class of 2024 small forwards that LSU has been after. They could certainly use Robinson to add to the wing depth once Jordan Wright is gone, while also capable of improving the team defense that struggled last season.
TCU has a lot of veteran guards and bigs that’ll be moving on after this season. However, one positon where there’s youth and depth is small forward, featuring four-star freshmen, Jace Posey and Isaiah Manning. The roster fit is questionable but since this is the lone local option among the four, that could help the Frogs here.
Vandy has two class of 2024 commits so far in guards Karris Bilal and Tyler Tanner. They have depth questions on the wing after losing Wright, while Tyrin Lawrence is likely gone after this year. We’ll see what freshmen Malik Presley and JaQualon Roberts does this season but there’s a clear chance for someone like Robinson to come in and have an immediate impact.
The Hokies have one commit in the 2024 class in Tyler Johnson, who plays the same position as Robinson. However, when you consider that transfer Mekhi Long will only be around for one year while Rodney Rice has a injury history, you can see a scenario where the Hokies will need both players. Plus, Coach Young can use the recruit’s versatility on both ends.
