Lil Kim Gives Halftime Performance During Game 3 Of WNBA Finals – Yahoo Entertainment
Lil Kim performed in her hometown on Sunday (Oct. 15), entertaining fans at Game 3 of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) Finals. Taking place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, the 49-year-old kept the halftime show lively.
Joined by a crew of talented dancers and the Liberty mascot Ellie the Elephant, the Grammy Award-winning rapper delivered multiple songs, ending with a blazing performance of “Lighters Up.”
According to the Washington Post, celebrity attendance for the anticipated matchup included Basketball Hall of Famer Tony Parker, South Carolina Coach Dawn Staley, Robin Roberts, actor Jason Sudeikis, music producer , former WNBA star Sue Bird, and a handful of NBA players.
On the court, the New York Liberty came out on top against the Las Vegas Aces after two consecutive losses.
“I just came in energized,” explained , who finished with 27 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, three assists, and two steals for the Liberty. “Energized that we had a new opportunity. Just playing with a lot of passion and just not wanting to let the moment pass us by and have that ‘what if?’ type of feeling.”
Liberty Coach Sandy Brondello added, “JJ’s voice has been heard these last few days.”
, who finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks for New York, elaborated more on the Liberty mindset.
“Just taking a look at ourselves and taking a look in the mirror and understanding the basketball that we played those two games in Vegas wasn’t anything that we were proud of,” Stewart said. “And making sure that we came together even more as a team. … It’s a roller-coaster journey. Even though we were down, we wanted to continue to fight.”
The New York Liberty and Las Vegas Aces face off in Game 4 on Wednesday (Oct. 18) in Brooklyn.
