After about a month away from campus to visit family and friends for the summer, members of the UConn women’s basketball team will return to Storrs in preparation for the team’s upcoming European trip.
The Huskies will fly out of the East Coast on August 15 and spend the next 10 days visiting four cities in three countries (Croatia, Slovenia and Italy). The trip will include a visit to senior Nika Mühl’s hometown of Zagreb, Croatia; tours of historical sites and museums; and four exhibition games against various local teams.
None of the four games will be broadcast or streamed live. All four are scheduled for 7 p.m. local time, however, that could change once UConn is on site.
UConn’s first exhibition game will be the day after they arrive in Croatia against Croatian All-Stars (not a former team of Mühl’s) on Aug. 16. The Huskies will play two days later in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia against Akson Ilirija.
On Aug. 21, UConn will face Italian All-Stars in Baricella, a municipality of Bologna, Italy.
The Huskies’ final game of the trip will be against Pécs (from Hungary) on Aug. 23 in Murano, an island in Venice known for glass-making. A UConn spokesperson confirmed that is the same former team/organization (NKA Universitas PEAC-Pécs) that former Husky Dorka Juhàsz, who is from Pécs, played on before moving to the United States for college.
