MAAC Announces Women's Basketball Conference Schedule – NU Purple Eagles.com

Edison, N.J.—The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced the MAAC schedule for the 2023-24 season for women’s basketball on Tuesday. The schedule features two matchups with each MAAC opponent starting on Dec. 16 and running until Mar. 9.
Niagara opens MAAC play with a pair of road games on Dec. 16 and Dec. 18. In the MAAC opener the Purple Eagles face reigning MAAC Champion Iona before taking on Saint Peter’s on Dec. 18 to close out the road trip.
The Purple Eagles open calendar year 2024 with a pair of MAAC home games, on Jan. 4 the Fairfield Stags visit the Gallagher Center. On Jan. 6 Niagara hosts Mount St. Mary’s (MD) to close out the first home MAAC weekend.
Niagara heads to Siena and Marist on Jan. 11 and 13 before returning home on Jan. 18 and 20 to host Manhattan and Quinnipiac.
Following the two game homestand, the Purple Eagles play three straight games on the road. On Jan. 25, Niagara travels to Rider and on Jan. 27 the Purple Eagles close out the season series against The Mount.
The Battle of the Bridge rivalry renews on Jan. 30 in Buffalo as the Purple Eagles head to Main Street to face Canisius.
Niagara then hosts Saint Peter’s on Feb. 1 before taking on Manhattan on Feb. 8 on the road. Following the brief road trip, the Purple Eagles host Siena and Marist at the Gallagher Center on Feb. 17 and 22.
The Purple Eagles close out the road portion of the MAAC schedule with games against Quinnipiac and Fairfield on Feb. 22 and 24.
The regular season ends with the Purple Eagles on a three-game homestand against Rider on Feb. 29, Iona on Mar. 2, and Canisius on Mar. 9.
The MAAC Championships return to Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. in 2024. The opening round of the tournament starts on Mar. 12 with the championship taking place on Mar. 16.
Last season Niagara set a new program record for MAAC wins in 2022-23 as they went 16-4 and earned the second seed in the MAAC Championships for the first time in program history.
10 players return from the 2022-23 roster that earned the program’s first WNIT bid last season. Angel Parker and Aaliyah Parker lead the group of returners as they were both named First Team All-MAAC last season. The two combined for 32.6 points per game as a senior and sophomore respectively. Niagara as a team led the country in steals per game and turnovers forced per game.
On Aug. 28, Niagara announced its complete non-conference schedule that features 10 games. Niagara will face St. Bonaventure (11/8), Duquesne (11/11), Stonehill (11/19), and Radford (12/2) at home while hitting the road to face Buffalo (11/14), Maryland (11/29), Cleveland State (12/6), and West Virginia (12/21). Niagara will also travel to the Cayman Islands for the Cayman Island Classic and will take on reigning national champion LSU (11/24) and UCLA (11/25) who made a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2022-23.
