Let’s see the biggest names in the NBA’s regular season top scorers
Just last year, LeBron James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s seemingly unattainable top scoring NBA record. That counted both regular season and NBA Playoffs but there is another list of players that only counts regular season. In this analysis, the idea is to tell you all about the all-time and still active players with the highest regular season scoring numbers. There are some obvious choices you will immediately identify but there are some names that will definitely surprise you. We will start with the all-time list that has some of the greatest NBA stars to ever play the game with only one of them who remains active.
The fact that LeBron James just surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the all-time NBA top scorer is not enough for the Lakers star. He is pushing 39 years old already and he just announced he is still going to play for a little longer. With 38,652 points during the regular season, James is at the top of a list that is completed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), Karl Malone (36,928), Kobe Bryant (33,643), and Michael Jordan (32,292) inside the Top 5. What LeBron James continues to do at this stage of his career has simply never been seen before in NBA history. He is likely to end up at the top and there is a slim chance anybody will ever reach his stats.
LeBron James is at the top but this Top 5 list gets a little more interesting once we take a look at the active players who make it. Far behind James, there is Kevin Durant with 26,892 points scored in the regular season only. James Harden is third with 24,693. Russell Westbrook is fourth with 24,457. In fifth place, we have Chris Paul with 21,755. But the new Warriors player will undergo a battle against Stephen Curry as teammates next season, who sits at 21,712 points during the regular season. Watching these two go at it while playing for the same team should be interesting. But make no mistake, the absolute king of stats is and will always remain LeBron James.
