The Dream’s first-year All-Stars will compete in the game on Saturday, July 15 live on ABC
Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray and forward Cheyenne Parker were both named 2023 AT&T WNBA All-Stars, the league announced today. Both players earned their first-ever WNBA All-Star nod in the middle of career-best seasons.
The 2023 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game will be held in Las Vegas, Nev. at Michelob ULTRA Arena, tipping off at 8:30 p.m. ET (5:30 p.m. PT) nationally on ABC. More information on the weekend can be found here.
“Both Allisha and Cheyenne earning spots on the WNBA All-Star team is nothing but a reflection of the hard work they put in every single day,” said head coach Tanisha Wright. “We’ve been saying all year that CP is an All-Star, and we knew what we were doing when we brought Allisha here to Atlanta. We’re all so proud of them and thrilled to have them as a part of our team’s core for the foreseeable future.”
Gray finished in sixth place among guards in fan, media and player voting for WNBA All-Star this year. Through 14 games in her first season with the Dream, Gray has scored in double figures in every game, averaging 18.3 points which good for the fifth-most among guards and 11th-most among all players in the league. Her four games with 25+ points are also the fifth-most by any player this season.
Parker is in the middle of the best season of her nine-year career so far, averaging more minutes (26.7), points (15.4), made and attempted shots (6.0-12.1), offensive (2.8) and total rebounds (7.1), steals (1.5) and blocks (1.4) than any of her previous eight years in the league. She ranks third among all forwards in the league in average offensive rebounds (3.4), and in the top 10 among forwards in average points, blocks, and steals. Through 14 games so far this season, she has tallied four double-doubles and four 20-point games in her third year with Atlanta.
Both Gray and Parker signed contract extensions ahead of the 2023 season, keeping both with the Dream for the next few years.
The selections mark the first time since 2017 the Dream have multiple All-Stars and the third-straight year of at least one All-Star in the game for Atlanta.
The AT&T WNBA All-Star Game will be the centerpiece of two full days packed with WNBA activities, including the WNBA STARRY® 3-Point Contest and Kia WNBA Skills Challenge, which will air on ESPN on Friday, July 14 at 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET.
The WNBA also will host its “WNBA Live” fan festival, now in its second year. An exciting, interactive event open to the public, “WNBA Live” will provide fans an opportunity to experience the intersection of the WNBA, entertainment and culture leading up to the AT&T WNBA All-Star Game.
The All-Star Game captains will draft their rosters by selecting first from the pool of eight remaining starters and then from the pool of 12 reserves. ESPN will broadcast the WNBA All-Star Team Selection Special on Saturday, July 8 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
